# 820 - # 829

I'm back..........

Kia Ora Everyone,
This week sees a really mixed bag !!! I have so much "stuff" to share with you, some of which may or may not make sense to you. What is a blog, other than the ramblings of someone (in)sane ??? I'll let you decide that. I have a little bit of work to do on this "post" yet - time at the moment is 12pm. I'll be back later on today, to add a couple of websites to this, including the restaurant where you can dine in win (hopefully) as well as Rainbows End website.
Take care everyone & God Bless
Krazy Kelvin

# 820. A Blog You Can "Post" On

We have a blog which we have named
"VI VI VI" for anyone who wants to comment about the date coming up next year - the 6th day of the 6th month of the 6th year !!! A number which to some people is called "the devils number" - 666. It will be just another day to most people, but I know of one or two people who aren't looking forward to it. It is sort of like the 13th, when it falls on a Friday, which for some reason is known as "Black Friday". Does anyone know the reasoning behind this ??? It was on the evening of the Black Friday, 13th May that I started my first ever blog in my life - this one. My first post I numbered # 999, as I knew that each time you put a new "post" on, it pushes the old one to the bottom. I don't know when we will reach # 1 - only time will tell. Because I have been wondering if I should just do "posts" as I read about "things" or when I do something rather than wait till until the Saturday and a "post of 10". Anyway its "food for thought" and so is the VI VI VI blog. What are your thoughts on the 6/6/6 ?

Email me kjmkama@hotmail.com for the code word, which will enable you to send an email, which will be posted straight on to the blog. Within a couple of minutes of sending your email/post to the "VI VI VI" blog, you can click on to the blog and read your email/post. Once we have got 665 "posts" on that blog, thats it folks, for that blog. The 666th "post" will be posted @ 6 seconds & 6 minutes past the 6th hour on the 6th day of the 6th month of the 6th year. We won't delete the blog - we just won't add any more posts to it, after "666".

# 821. Another Blog You Can "Post" On

We have opened up
"Heaven On Mother Earth" as another blog you can send a "post" to. Again, just email me and I'll give you the code word which will enable you to send your "post" to the blog as a normal email. With this particular blog, you can do a post about anything - old or new so as long as it isn't "Blue" !!! You may want to say hello to someone; share a recipe, a joke, a saying; use it as your "voicebox"; write about a topic that interests you; tell people about what ever it is that you collect. There is any number of topics, etc that you can "post" about. If you haven't got your own blog yet, its a good way to make a start. To see something that you have "wrote" on a blog, will give you a "buzz". Who knows you may catch the bug and start your own blog. Its great if you have a lot of friends that are spread far & wide, because it cuts out on having to repeat yourself over & over again, as you email all your friends. You just log on to your blog, do your "posts" / write about what ever. Then your friends, can log on to your blog and read about what you are up. Its great if you are away travelling. It as easy as falling off a log - believe me. If I can do it, anyone can. Look at me - I had never been interested in computers. I don't even own a computer. I still use internet cafes or a friends computer, when I can get near it, without him wanting to use it. There is still a lot of things I need to learn, but I will get there - given time (a lot of time !!!) I learnt a little bit about "html". It took me a while to work it out, but I got there in the end. I now have to learn about "blog-rolls". The only thing with blog-roll (which shows the names of other peoples blogs on the right-hand-side bar) is that is all you can put is the name of the blog. You can't write a few words about what is within the blog as I have done on blog 21 21 21. When you read a name of a blog, like say "Vietnamese God", you can only wonder what is within that blog. Is it really about "God" ? In this case, the blog is about "food" and life in Vietnam. Nothing at all to do with "God".

# 822. No Smoking !!!

As we all know, smoking in bars/clubs etc has been banned in NZ, but it seems rumour has it, that some kiwis have got hold of the old # 8 wire motto " kiwis can do anything" and opened up "garage bars" in their own garages ??? If you have a few friends over for a few drinks & a smoke, are you breaking the law ? In Northland, some pubs & clubs report takings down by 1/3 because of so called "garage bars". How can they say, its garage bars. Could be the "smokers" staying away in "droves", because they don't like been told they can't smoke and would sooner have a drink & smoke in their own "garage", with a few friends. The good old kiwi party". with a guitar in hand and also someone "playing the spoons". Many a "good voice" was heard in the old garage. I remember "swigging" from a bottle or two. As for the notion that bars were promised that their takings would rise, if smokers were banned ?What are your comments ?

# 823. The Final Whistle ???

In the Wairarapa today, the final whistle may be blown on what has hone the skills of our rugby playing nation - sheep tackling. It seems the local branch of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in that area has complained that it is just not on. I say - get off the grass !!! This is a rural community putting on a bit of light-hearted entertainment for the crowd before a rugby match, where the children are let loose in a paddock and run around trying to grab hold of the "woolly tackle bags". It is a way of rural life and has been going on for years in rural areas all around NZ. Wairarapa Bush supporters club chairman, called the idea to stop tackling sheep "bloody ridiculous. We live in a rural community and if the day comes where kids can't have a go at tackling a sheep, we have to have a serious look at ourselves". To those who have complained, I say "Pull the wool back over your eyes and stick to counting sheep in your sleep" !!!

# 824. Dine In & Win A Prize Worth Dying For !!!

Its not very often I put in a "plug" for a restaurant, but this was worthy of mention as they celebrate, "the day of the dead", which is an important day of celebration for Mexicans. People go to cemeteries to visit their mueritios, their dead and pray, weep and bring flowers for them. It is believed that souls return to visit their living relations and favourite foods of the deceased are symbolically placed on graves, while the living eat & drink to their memory and delight in been alive. Childrens graves receive candy to eat & toys to play with, when they revisit the earth !!!

When you dine in at this restaurant, before November 2nd, you get to fill in an entry form, which puts you in the draw for a prize really worth dying for ?????? !!! There are certain terms & conditions which apply including, you must be alive when you dine in and your prize must be used within 100 years. What are they are offering as a prize ??? What is the restaurant ??? How much is the prize worth ??? Check it out for yourself when you dine in.

The name of the restaurant is -
Mexican Cafe 67 Victoria St West in the inner city.
It is a restaurant that has been around since 1983, so they must be doing something right !!!

# 825. Halloween !!!

The one day of the year you can really "dress up" is on Halloween !!! Spend the night at Rainbows End - the fun park at Manukau City. The night starts, when the gates open at 6pm and finishes at midnight, so if you have nothing to do on Saturday 29th, you could be "freaky" for the night or freaked-out - one of the two. I was over at a friends place when we got talking about Halloween at Rainbows End. His wife was making us a cup of coffee. She asked us what we thought her halloween costume should be. Wrong move !!! Quick as-a-flash, a little voice said "Just go as you are, you are freaky enough" !!! Needless to say, I had to make my own coffee. The "night" is recommended as suitable only for those age 14 & over. The cost to get "freaky" through the gates is $35. Mai FM's DJ Jam / Spacifix / Fusion will also be there. For futher information, check out
their website or phone 0800 Freaky !!!

7.30pm 16th October. Halloween Update - For all the little ghouls, goblins, fairies, witches & wizards under 14, you could go to "Boo At The Zoo" which is on from 6pm - 10pm. Advanced bookings are recommended.

# 826. Thirty Years Old !!!

Tonight about 200 former & present staff will gather at Avalon Studios, based in Lower Hutt, to celebrate "Avalons" 30th birthday !!! It was from Avalon that NZ got its first home-made soap opera, "Close To Home"; the historical drama about Governor George Grey; Country Calendar and "Dig This". In 1975, when the studio first opened, it was the biggest television complex in the Southern Hemisphere - nine stories, with an adjoining 11-studio block on a 7ha site. Viewers will no doubt remember the nostalgia, including the newsreaders, Philip Sherry & Dougal Stevenson. Also "Goodnight Kiwi", when it was time to put the cat & the milk bottles out. With TV now 24/7, we will never see "Goodnight Kiwi" again !!!

# 827. The Fastest Indian !!!

From what friends have told me, this is a great movie to see, but don't go with the hope of seeing "cowboys & indians" fight it out, because despite the title, thats not what it is about. It is a movie about "Bert Munroe", a speed legend, who spent two decades modifying a 1920 "Indian" scout motorcycle. He took the bike to the Bonneville Salt Flats, in Utah,USA and went on to set a world record for the worlds "fastest indian", with a speed of 305km (190 miles per hour). The world premiere of the movie was at held at Invercargill, where the red carpet was laid out for celebrity guests arriving in limousines, including the NZ Prime Minister. The crowd let out "whoops" of delight as guests walked up the red carpet, but the loudest "whoops" were for the "star" passengers of the final limo - Anthony Hopkins, Arron Murphy and Christopher Lawford.

# 828. We Take Center Stage Again !!!

Once again, we prove that there are some really beautiful girls in NZ - beautiful enough to win "titles". An 22 year old Auckland University student, has won the title of the 18th Miss World University in Seoul yesterday from 42 other contestants. The runner-up was from South Africa, with the third prizewinner from Latvia.

# 829. A Blast From The Past !!!

These "sayings" or what-ever you like to call them are 70 years old - I kid you not. One can only wonder what life was like, all those years ago............!!!

"Don't Groom An Ass". A french proverb says "It is a waste of soap, to wash a donkeys head". You may trim his ears and groom him till he shines, but the first chance he gets, he will put back his ears and bray. "Though thou shouldst bray a fool in mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him". No matter how much money, education, influence, good looks or even religion a man has, if he lacks "gumption" he will be classed with the rough coated, long eared, loud voiced kicker whose only use to society is to afford a comparison with a larger and more intelligent species.

Thats it folks, for another week !!!
I'll be back............
